A Perfect Day in Paradise

Paradise is one of the fastest-growing communities on the Avalon Peninsula. Paradise is part of the Greater St. John's Metropolitan area and is bordered by the City of Mount Pearl, the City of St. John's, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, and the town of Conception Bay South. Combined with great schools and outdoor spaces Paradise is a great community to purchase a home. The agents and sales representatives of Royal LePage Vision Realty Inc., are always happy to help you explore a new community. But we are also happy to help you get to know the area as you search for your new home, so join us as we plan out a full day from sunrise to sunset in Paradise.

  1. Breakfast at Pür & Simple

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we recommend starting the day at one of Paradise's newest restaurants, Pur & Simple. With a wide variety of items on the menu, there is something for everyone. Those who are looking to watch their weight might enjoy a smoothie bowl, but for the rest of us, there are classic standbys like pancakes and indulgent treats like the Cini-Bacon. What is the Cini-Bacon? Just a delicious Danish bun filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar, Swiss, and provolone and topped with a cinnamon glaze.

  1. Take a Walk!

After a big breakfast, you may feel the need to get some exercise. Paradise has great trails and options for hikers and walkers alike. Those who are looking for a leisurely stroll can visit Octagon Pond, Adam's Pond, or Neil's Pond. These ponds all feature loops that are kid and pet-friendly. Octagon Pond is easy to access and is in the center of Paradise and offers great bird watching. Adam's Pond is a flat trail that is popular year-round with everyone from joggers to snowshoeing enthusiasts. At 1.9 kilometers Neil's Pond has the shortest loop and with two boardwalks and wooded areas it is a great place for an easy after breakfast stroll.

Those who are looking for a bit more of a post-breakfast workout should head over to the Miner's Trail at Topsail Beach. This 7.7-kilometer trail leads you up the side of a mountain which overlooks Conception Bay. The trail has an elevation rise of 157 meters and winds through wooded areas, so lace up your boots and make sure to bring plenty of water!

3. Terry Fox Run and the Tely-10

Paradise is home to two historic long-distance running events, the Terry Fox Run and the Tely-10. The Tely-10 got its name from its sponsor, the Telegraph Newspaper. The Tely-10 holds the distinction of being one of the oldest road races in Canada with the first race being held in 1922. The Terry Fox Run is a fundraiser for cancer named after the run's namesake Terry Fox. In 1980 Fox, who lost his leg to osteogenic sarcoma, began a run that would take him from Newfoundland to Thunder Bay, Ontario in an effort to raise cancer awareness.

4. Get Messy!

If you are looking for something to do indoors, Get Messy NL is just the place for you. Get Messy NL is all about art and creativity. Art camps, lessons, and birthday party events are available for kids of all levels. Corporate events and special activities like the "Hot Mess Mom's" club are great group activities that get the creative juices flowing.

5. Woodstock Public House

1959 Topsail Rd, Paradise, NL A1L 1Z5

(709) 781-2222

After a full day of exploring Paradise, you should stop at the Woodstock Public House for dinner. Originally opened in 1927 it has been a community fixture for nearly 100 years and is the oldest restaurant on the Avalon Peninsula. The menu features hearty classics like prime rib, steaks, and seafood along with seafood and pasta options. Stop in and soak up the history that lines the walls while you sit near one of the restaurant's lovely fireplaces.
